Easy Virtue: Haters Gonna Hate

Much drama is about in this 1928 silent film by Alfred Hitchcock, but the best of it comes in the second half. When Larita cautiously approaches a new life following a humiliating divorce, she is met with the kind of horseshit one would expect from such an event. However, she is later greeted with an amount of shade not many could withstand...

The new in-laws (half of them anyway) show open disdain for Larita - the best of which coming from a perky sister in-law who all but throws confetti after each expertly delivered shot. Here she is delighting in telling the new bride that the family's preferred woman is coming over for dinner...

I mean, look at the satisfaction on her face! She is as cute as she is vicious - the worst kind of bully! The actress did this almost too well! The husband's silence on the matter made it almost hard to watch at times.

This is a dated melodrama with timeless social behavior.

Maybe Kinda Useful Tech Advice Pt. 1

If the vibration on your smartphone suddenly stops working, leave it off for a few hours, then turn it back on...

or you can follow a tutorial on how to replace the vibration motor. If that sounds like a bad idea, then do the above because there was no way I was doing that!

Bees Knees: Degrassi's Amanda Stepto (Spike Nelson) Reppin'

Ms. Stepto in her Sick of It All t-shirt during Degrassi reunion in 1999. I can't believe people thought her old hair was for her character, come on!

Degrassi Junior High: Star-Crossed/Lil Siouxsie

Erica's got the hots for Clutch, and decides to make a move...sort of. She enlists the help of her sister Heather to get the astrological scoop on Clutch. Too bad Heather's too shy to ask someone their sign, so she asks celestial goth star, Faith, a student that may have appeared at Degrassi just once, since she's tight with Clutch. He's a Virgo, by the way.

Word gets to Clutch that a "niner" was asking about him, so he asks Heather for a date to Degrassi's charity bowl-a-thon. Uh oh! Erica gets upset that her sister was approached by her crush, but they quickly resolve the problem by deciding to pull the ole twin switcheroo on him. See, Erica has a dentist's appointment, and wasn't the one asked out, so it's the perfect plan. Poor Clutch, right? Wrong! Clutch is only interested in the twins' friend Lucy, who's also the former squeeze of his hands-y friend Paul. Everyone's so shy and sneaky here...

All plans seem to be going well, until, the twins, and their pal, LD, notice that Clutch and Lucy are stargazing at each other. Funny thing is, no one seems upset that Lucy is going for a guy her friend likes. Oh well...although, it's possible I missed an episode where she's given side-eye and huffed at.

Moral of the story: Don't ask a girl to ask another girl what a guy's sign is while missing the signs that he's into your friend, and...
